Job Description

The Associate Director Business Operations will form an important part of the country management function in Iraq as well as leading and championing the incorporation of new organizational policies and initiatives into the Iraq business.

Control Risks in Iraq derives its competitive advantage through continued innovation, agility collaborative problem solving and investment in complimentary functionalities for our protective services business in Iraq. The rapid assimilation and implementation of Control Risks’ multi-jurisdictional policy objectives is vital to the continued success and sustainability for the Iraq business.

Reporting to the Senior Managing Director for Iraq, with dotted reporting lines to departmental heads, the Associate Director Business Operations will be expected to support other country management functionalities with a particular focus on policy development and production, the drafting and production of client facing commercial and operational responses, project mobilizations.

It is expected that the Associate Director Business Operations will develop a detailed and comprehensive understanding of the Iraq business within a relatively short time and demonstrate significant capacity for further progression within the leadership of the business. Maintaining the agility of the organization by fostering managerial depth and competence remains a strategic priority for the future of the business.

The Associate Director Business Operations will be charged with the programme management and championing of the following policy areas within the Iraq business:

  • Environmental, Sustainability and Governance (ESG)
    • Represent the Iraq business within the framework of the firm’s ESG working groups and articulate the firm’s ESG strategy within the context of the Iraq organisation.
    • Develop and execute an organisational change management programme for the implementation of the firm’s ESG strategy within the Iraq business.
    • Collaborate with internal stakeholders in order to enable the adoption of organisational ESG outcomes into existing policies and procedures within the Iraq business.
  • Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (DEI)
    • Represent the Iraq business within the framework of the firm’s DEI working groups and articulate the firm’s DEI strategy within the context of the Iraq organisation.
    • Develop and execute an organisational change management programme for the implementation of the firm’s DEI approach within the Iraq business.
  • International Code of Conduct Association (ICOCA) and Human Rights
    • Champion the firm’s ICOCA and Human Rights initiatives and commitments, collaborating closely with the Iraq business’s leadership in order to ensure compliance with ICOCA’s mandates and guiding principles.
    • Submission, monitoring and compliance with ICOCA self-assessment and compliance with group policy reporting requirements.
  • Support ADQHSE with the Iraq business’s compliance and adherence to ISO 18788 (Security Operations Management Systems), ISO 9001 (Quality Management Systems) and PSC1:
    • Defining and devising robust quality control procedures (systems amp; processes) in conjunction with department heads.
    • Internal audit of the quality processes, systems and internal control mechanisms across departments.
    • Devising and implementing corrective action procedures where necessary.
    • Monitoring amp; continuous improvement of all systems, processes and internal controls.
  • Work collaboratively with the High Risk Managed Services (HRMS) Bid Team, based in Dubai, to lead the production and collation of Iraq-based SME responses to commercial opportunities and proposal submissions.
  • Support SMEs across the Iraq business with the development and production of internal and client-facing documentation, including:
    • Operational contingency and security plans.
    • Project mobilisation/ de-mobilisation planning and delivery.
    • Training design, delivery and audit.

Requirements

  • Educated to Degree Level (Level 6) in a relevant discipline (Business Administration, Leadership and Management, Security Management, Resilience and Disaster Management, International Relations etc).
  • A demonstrable understanding of, and experience with (relevant certifications preferred):
  • A demonstrable understanding of, and experience with, organisational training design, delivery and audit (relevant certifications preferred):
  • A minimum of five years relevant experience in a relevant leadership role.
