Job Purpose

This is a senior management position in Iraq, covering several critical areas of the business. The Operations Director is responsible for the country wide operations and coordinates the management of Control Risks’ contracts within Iraq. The main responsibilities of the Operations Director are personnel management, business development, quality assurance management and the execution of operational efficiency. The successful candidate should personify Control Risks values, be passionate about our clients and obsessed with our brand and reputation.

Tasks and Responsibilities

Business Development

  • Management of relationships with clients
  • Maximise revenue and margin from existing contracts
  • Liaise with Markets and Partnerships in Dubai and elsewhere for the development of sales-leads for Control Risks in Iraq and provide direct oversight of short-term and consultancy tasks in the region to compliment the Senior Partner Iraq strategic business plan.
  • Lead the development of products and services to better serve and expand the client base.
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of the Iraq Business Development Plan with the aim of proactively seeking and winning new business in the region.
  • Actively review the political, sociological, technological, economic and natural forces that influence the market in the region.
  • Develop Control Risks’ wider consultancy services in Iraq.

Personnel Management

  • Manage the Iraq Profit and Loss account so that it remains within Control Risks’ Iraq budgetary guidelines; ensure accurate monthly invoicing, assistance with data presentation for Dynamics and monthly budgeting forecasting to ensure the correct monetary assets are in place for uninterrupted and continued operations.
  • Personnel management of Control Risks’ team in Iraq
  • Develop the capability of Iraqi employees to undertake tasks which are currently carried out by expatriate personnel.
  • Chair selection boards for the recruitment of all positions at or above Senior Team Leader with the assistance of HR, HRMS and the position’s line manager.
  • Liaise with HR, HRMS to fill positions and maintain a pipeline of available qualified personnel.
  • Direct the Training Manager for the development and delivery of in-country Training for Iraqi and expatriate personnel, as part of the Quality Assurance process.
  • Liaise with HR, HRMS for all expatriate cases and local HR for all Iraqi personnel cases relating to:
    • Performance management
    • Disciplinaries
    • Absence due to illness / compassionate leave
    • Deployment processes
    • Personnel documentation processes
  • Assist the relevant line manager to develop and disseminate job descriptions for all positions.
  • Provide guidance (as required) to all Control Risks’ staff to enhance their personal development and promotion prospects

Quality Assurance / Contract

  • Assist in the performance management of employees within countrywide. Including: peer review of documentation and reports, leading assessment and training activities, provide objective, quantitative standards of performance to improve standards or knowledge in deficient areas and advise on the best courses of action to ensure a seamless delivery of services.
  • Ensure that employees perform their duties within the framework of Control Risks’ Iraq Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Support Control Risks’ compliance with the regulatory framework of the Iraqi Government.
  • Ensure that manpower and vehicle requirements are identified and resourced in a timely manner to support Control Risks’ operations within Iraq.

Operations

  • Directly oversee the management of Control Risks Regional Operations Rooms supporting short-term and longstanding contracts as required.
  • Provide oversight and management of static manned guarding services.
  • In conjunction with the regional logistics teams and Operations Managers, provide oversight and management of accommodation and resource requirements to meet client business objectives in a timely manner.
  • In close conjunction with the regional analyst, identify, collate and present information relevant to the region so as to support Control Risks and client operations.
  • Conduct contingency planning to ensure the continuous provision of operational support and the required resources to contracts delivered by Control Risks in Iraq; with the main objective being to ensure we exceed the client’s expectations and proactively develop solutions to evolving operational requirements.
